Robert Lewandowski opened his MLS account in style as his double propelled the Chicago Fire to a 2-1 win over Charlotte FC.

Lewandowski was making his home debut for the Fire, having previously featured in defeats on the road to Inter Miami and New York City FC, respectively.

But the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona striker got up and running at his new club as the Fire got back on track at Soldier Field.

Pep Biel put Charlotte ahead in the 18th minute, finishing off a neat team move with a superb strike high into the roof of the net from a tight angle.

But Lewandowski swiftly hauled Chicago level, coolly picking out the bottom-left corner from the edge of the area.

Lewandowski then turned provider with a slick pass into Philip Zinckernagel early in the second half, though Kristijan Kahlina made a sharp save for Charlotte.

However, the comeback was complete in the 68th minute, as Lewandowski took in Robin Lod's clever pass and brilliantly finished beyond Kahlina.

Lewandowski was not the only superstar to shine on Saturday, with Thomas Muller and Son Heung-min sharing the goals in a 1-1 draw between the Vancouver Whitecaps and Los Angeles FC.

Son put LAFC ahead in the 37th minute, with Muller then equalising from the penalty spot in the second half as the Whitecaps fought back to take a point that keeps them above LAFC at the top of the Western Conference.

Evander hits milestone in Cincinnati win

FC Cincinnati claimed a dramatic 4-2 win over the San Jose Earthquakes, with Evander turning in a historic display.

The match was delayed by over two hours due to weather, but when it did get going at TQL Stadium, Evander took centre stage, scoring a goal and laying on three assists.

His goal was a stunner, coming in the 82nd minute to put Cincinnati ahead for the first time.

When he assisted Bryan Ramirez's effort in the 33rd minute, Evander brought up his 100th career goal involvement. His tally now stands at 103 goal contributions in 104 regular-season games, making the Brazilian the fifth-fastest player to reach the 100 milestone in MLS history.

Evander is now on 11 goals and 11 assists in MLS this term. He is just the fourth player in league history to register at least 10 goals and 10 assists in three successive campaigns.
