Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has suggested that the Manchester City financial irregularities case could drag on until the end of the century.

The Premier League charged Manchester City with 115 breaches of financial rules, with an additional 15 charges added later. Manchester City has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

The hearing, which began two years ago today, lasted 12 weeks but has yet to produce a verdict. Speaking on the "White and Jordan" show, Jordan suggested that the public might have to wait until the end of the century to see the outcome of the case.

Jordan said: "I've been saying this for a long time, and it has indeed taken a long time. This is their own fault. They shouldn't have brought 115 charges; they should have picked five or six truly significant ones and then either given Manchester City a result or acquitted them.

"If Manchester City is ultimately found against, this case won't be over until the end of the century. So if the verdict goes against Manchester City, it wouldn't be surprising if it drags on until the end of the century, because they will appeal.

"If the verdict goes against the Premier League, the Premier League will not appeal, even though they initiated the proceedings. That's just how it is. People are loudly accusing Manchester City of what they've done, but Manchester City still has to continue running their business. Everyone is questioning how they can spend £450 million, but they haven't done that, because they've recouped nearly £300 million from player sales."

Jordan believes that since Manchester City has consistently maintained its innocence, they should demand a swift resolution. "Premier League clubs are paying for this. If I were Manchester City, having waited two years just to prove my innocence, I would be furious."

Jordan said: "I would say, 'Where is the verdict?' Because our name is being tarnished, and it's an absolute insult. But strangely, they've remained silent about it. I would have expected more anger. They must be annoyed. Why aren't they loudly demanding to know where the verdict is?"
