Eldense's new coach, Javier Calleja, has signed with the club until June 30, 2028. He admitted that the news of Messi becoming the new owner of the Alicante club "was key to his arrival at the blue and white team," and stated that it "is a guarantee" for the club's development and ambition.

On the day of Eldense's 105th anniversary, Javier Calleja was officially introduced as the new head coach. Taking advantage of the anniversary, the Madrid-born coach said: "I am very proud to be at a club with 105 years of history." He added: "We will embark on a job that looks promising, with high goals and great ambition."

Calleja admitted that during the negotiations for his employment, the club presented him with a "very exciting plan." He said: "This is a humble club, but it has all the conditions to grow bigger and stronger, and Messi joining the new equity structure is a guarantee for the team's continued growth."
Regarding whether someone like Messi influenced his joining Eldense, Javier Calleja explained: "Víctor Lafuente and Mario Rosas told me that Messi would become the club's new owner, and with a very high level of involvement. This means a lot to any professional. The plan they gave me was exciting and very motivating. Being able to come here, this has always been the key of keys."
When asked about the goals he has set for Eldense, the new coach said: "The primary goal is to beat Eibar, but if we look a bit further, our idea is to secure survival as soon as possible, and then improve ourselves." On a purely tactical level, Calleja said he wants to build "a team full of fight, capable of transmitting energy, daring to take risks, and trustworthy. Our philosophy is to be ourselves, while being aware of who we are facing. Eibar is a good team, but if we do things well, we have a chance to win."
