Feyenoord forward Shaqueel van Persie, son of former star Robin van Persie, has been attracting increasing attention. Meanwhile, there are reports that Morocco is attempting to persuade him to play for the Moroccan national team, with his maternal Moroccan heritage considered a key factor.

According to the Moroccan website Hespress, there are currently no negotiations or official contact between the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and the 19-year-old player or his representatives. This contradicts some media reports claiming that both sides have already begun discussions about his national team affiliation.
The source added that Morocco's coaching staff has not yet proactively contacted van Persie, either directly or through his agent or family. The coaching staff wants to continue monitoring his performance before taking any formal steps.
The same source stated that the reason for this cautious approach is that coach Walid Regragui is not yet fully convinced by the young forward's technical abilities. Therefore, Morocco is still observing him, and no discussions about his national team future are currently underway.
