AC Milan returned to winning ways as goals from Christian Pulisic, Adrien Rabiot and Diego Moreira sealed a comfortable 3-0 victory over Lecce at San Siro.

Having drawn their last two Serie A matches, as well as losing to Benfica in the Europa League, Milan headed into the extended international break with a much-needed victory. 

Milan's dominance was rewarded in the 14th minute through a real moment of quality. Strahinja Pavlovic's ball from deep was brilliantly taken down by Pulisic, who then finished with his left foot, despite Wladimiro Falcone getting contact on his shot. 

Kialonda Gaspar forced Mike Maignan into action at the other end, but Ruben Amorim's side had two glorious opportunities to double their lead before heading in for half-time. 

A quickly taken corner routine ended with Pulisic's dinked cross to the back post headed just wide by Koni De Winter before Pavlovic, after being sent clear by Pulisic, got his shot all wrong as Lecce goalkeeper Falcone comfortably gathered.

But after seeing a Pavlovic header ruled out for offside, Milan got their second goal just after the hour through Rabiot, who exchanged a neat one-two with Goncalo Ramos before wrapping a left-footed strike in at the near post. 

Alexis Saelemaekers was then taken off for Moreira in the 69th minute, and the Belgian made an instant impact off the bench, bundling his way past Jamil Siebert to add further gloss to the scoreline four minutes after his introduction. 

Maignan was kept on his toes to preserve his clean sheet, saving attempts from Oumar Ngom and Amar Fatah, but Milan were able to hold on and maintain their unbeaten start to the Serie A campaign.

Pulisic haunts Lecce again as Moreira continues hot streak

Ahead of kick-off, Amorim insisted his Milan team had been dominant without reward in their recent games, but they were thoroughly deserving of their three points here, with the foundations laid by Pulisic's early strike. 

On his first league start since April 26, Pulisic made it six goals in six games against Lecce, while it is also the first time the American has been involved in at least one goal in two consecutive Serie A outings this calendar year.

Moreira also continued his bright start to life in Milan. He has now been involved in six goals (four goals, two assists) in his last four appearances across Ligue 1, with Strasbourg, and Serie A. He has also scored in consecutive league appearances for the first time in his career. 

The result also continued Milan's dominance in this fixture. Against no other current Serie A side do the Rossoneri have a longer ongoing unbeaten run than against Lecce (17 matches, W12 D5). Their last defeat against them came in April 2006 (0-1).

Milan's dominance was backed up by the underlying metrics, too. They finished with an expected goals (xG) total of 1.93 from their 10 attempts, while also restricting Lecce to a measly xG total of 0.17 from their six shots.
