On September 22,(CEST), Sesko posted on social media to explain his withdrawal from the Slovenia national team squad.

Sesko wrote: "I am very sorry that I will have to miss the national team's upcoming matches. I have always played for Slovenia—and always will—with passion and pride. Now, the most important thing is to fully focus on my recovery."

"I am already working hard to return to the field as soon as possible, so that I can once again contribute to the national team and my club. I believe in our players, and I am convinced that this time, they will also show the team spirit that has always defined us. I can't wait to wear the national team jersey again; until then, I will be Slovenia's biggest fan. Come on, Slovenia!"
