According to The Sun, data agency OLBG estimates that if the Premier League demands Manchester City compensate for lost prize money, the club might have to pay over £527 million to 38 clubs combined.

The report states that following a four-year investigation by an independent commission, Manchester City was found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges brought against them. However, penalties have not yet been finalized, and Manchester City continues to maintain its innocence and plans to appeal. The charges include violations of Premier League financial regulations and UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules. Manchester City could face penalties including points deductions, fines, or even expulsion from England's top division.

OLBG's estimate covers the 2011/12 season through last season. The calculation assumes that if Manchester City were removed from the standings each season, other clubs would move up one position and receive additional prize money accordingly. Since the Premier League has not yet announced official prize money figures for the 2025/26 season, last season's data was used as a basis for the projection. Based on this methodology, Manchester City might owe £527,935,464.

Everton is expected to be the biggest beneficiary, potentially receiving £28,944,186, while Manchester United could receive the second-highest amount of £28,118,305. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool could each receive over £20 million.

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak insists the club is innocent and states that the appeal will clear them of all charges. Some legal experts believe that even if the appeal fails, Manchester City could pursue the case in the High Court; if so, proceedings could extend until 2028.
