According to English media outlet Football London, Badiashile has had limited playing time since joining Napoli on loan. Chelsea may not receive the £23 million buy-out fee, and the player could return to Stamford Bridge next summer.

Xabi Alonso was decisive in clearing out several surplus players from Chelsea's squad during the summer transfer window. Chelsea fans hoped Alonso would have more authority than his predecessor, and they got their wish. When Chelsea confirmed the Spaniard's appointment, he signed a four-year contract. Insiders at Stamford Bridge stated that Alonso was appointed as "manager" rather than "head coach."

In a busy summer window, Chelsea brought in 10 first-team players and signed Morgan Rogers for £117 million, a new club record. Alonso was deeply involved in most of the signings and also played a significant role in moving surplus players out of the squad.

After a disappointing 2024/25 season, Badiashile was deemed surplus to requirements by Chelsea. Despite showing potential when he joined in January 2023, he failed to live up to expectations during his time in England. Injuries affected his form, and even when fit, he often made individual errors. Chelsea attempted to sell the defender this summer but were unsuccessful.

Chelsea at least managed to get Badiashile off their wage bill this season through a loan deal, with Napoli agreeing to take him on loan for the 2024/25 season. According to sources, Napoli paid a £2.5 million loan fee and have a £23 million buy-out option to make the deal permanent next summer.

However, from Chelsea's perspective, early signs are not promising. Badiashile has made only one appearance for Napoli since joining, coming off the bench for 10 minutes against Inter Milan on September 5th in his debut. Marcus Thuram outjumped Badiashile for Inter Milan's second goal, and Badiashile also bore some responsibility for Inter's winning goal at San Siro.

Since then, Badiashile has not featured for Napoli. Manager Massimiliano Allegri has left him on the bench in recent matches against Arsenal, Bologna, and Fiorentina. According to Italian media reports cited by Sport Witness, Allegri has "doubts" about Badiashile. The reports also state that Allegri had hoped he would immediately become a key player for Napoli, but this has not materialized so far.
