On Tuesday, PFA Chairman Maheta Molango attended the FIFPro summit in London, where he discussed the impact of a congested fixture schedule on players.

Maheta Molango said: "Five players have withdrawn from the England squad, and being selected for England is the proudest moment for any player. You have to ask yourself, what is wrong with this industry?"

"A player like Palmer could play four consecutive summers if he went to the World Cup. You'd wonder why he was absent. He was absent because of scheduling issues, and that absolutely needs to be taken seriously."

"English players love playing for England, but unfortunately, your body has limits on your performance. You can't defy biological laws. Is this the football we want?"

"Are the players who inspire our dreams unable to perform at their best? This concerns me greatly. What we've seen over the past few years is a sick, unhealthy system because it ultimately revolves around gaining votes and consolidating power."
