After Argentina defeated Bolivia 4-0 at home, defender Cristian Romero gave an interview to reporter Sophie Martinez.

Cutie, Argentina's new captain... how do you feel?

As I just said, to be honest, this is one of those days I'll remember for the rest of my life. I never thought... my career started here, and returning ten years later, having won every trophy with the Argentina national team, experiencing the golden era of the national team firsthand—I'm very happy about everything I experienced today. Of course, the journey continues, and we need to build an excellent team. We have outstanding players and a great coaching staff. We'll prepare ourselves to work hard to take the national team to the highest level.

Did you hear the crowd singing "Ole ole Cutie Cutie"?

Yes, I did. To be honest, it was amazing to experience all of this at home. As I said, returning here ten years later—today is a beautiful day for me. I'm very happy. Moreover, as captain, starting the match and scoring a goal is truly special. I'm ready to take on the great responsibility that comes with being captain. That said, there are many players on the team who could wear the armband. Rodri isn't here, Leandro isn't here, and there are many other experienced players who've been playing for years. I think everyone will help fully, do their part, and continue building a strong team. At minimum, we'll try to bring the national team to the important glory we've achieved over many years.

Of course. What did Lionel Scaloni tell you? Did he call you aside privately and say, "I think you're the best person to wear the captain's armband"?

Actually, he told me a long time ago that I would be the third captain, because Messi and Otamendi chose me, and they helped me become the third captain. After the World Cup, when Messi and Otamendi could no longer play, it was time for me to take on this responsibility. Of course, we'll miss Messi greatly. He's the one who carried our hopes. We grew up watching him play, and our generation witnessed his entire career. Clearly, everyone will miss him a lot. The truth is, there will never be anyone like him again. That said, we have an excellent group of players here. Many teammates who have fought alongside us for a long time. We'll work together and move forward with one heart. We'll always try to make people identify with us and with this team. We'll give everything for it—whether it's a friendly, an official match, the World Cup, or Copa América. Whatever competition we participate in, we're committed to presenting a perfect image of the national team. I think we're an excellent team, and we'll do our best to achieve this goal.
