During Uruguay's preparation for a friendly match against India, Araujo was interviewed by the official media of the Uruguayan Football Association. He spoke about the regret of not playing in two World Cups, his adaptation to Liverpool, his experience working with new coach Marcelo Bielsa, and his relationship with Núñez and family life. This is the first part of the interview.

Ronald, we're meeting again with the Uruguayan team. After the World Cup, the subsequent break, and the start of this new phase under Marcelo Bielsa, the team has played two matches. But first, I'd like to ask: How are you doing?
Honestly, I'm doing very well. I'm very happy to be here again. Coming to the Uruguayan team, representing my country, and being with my teammates is always wonderful. I'm embracing this new phase with great enthusiasm.
What was that World Cup experience like for you? You were with the team the whole time, but you missed out on playing. How did you feel going through all that?
I'll answer very honestly. That experience was very difficult—for me and also for my family, who suffered with me. The truth is, there have been two major tournaments that I couldn't participate in. It's very tough, truly very tough. You put in so much effort for this—all to represent the Uruguayan team and stand as a player on one of the most beautiful stages in the world. Not being able to do it is truly difficult.
I kept trying my best, hoping to play, but once again, it didn't happen. That hurts. I can understand the doubts, criticism, and voices around this. I understand because this is our job.
I wouldn't say I agree with the criticism—when you're criticized, you never agree with it, right? But I also feel personally responsible for not being able to play. I'm very sad because of it. However, these are all part of life. You encounter difficulties, learn to overcome them, look forward, and keep working hard.
I know what I can bring to the Uruguayan team. I firmly believe a very beautiful phase is coming—for the whole team and for myself. I believe I will bring great joy to my country and my family. I am Uruguayan, and I have deep feelings for all of this. I have always worked hard for this, and I will work even harder to achieve what I want and yearn for. Bringing a championship to everyone is every player's dream and the most wonderful thing. I will do my utmost, give my all, and strive to win a championship.
Those of us who are with the Uruguayan team every day know how much you love this team and your country. You're so happy every time you come, you convey that emotion to everyone, and you give your best. After going through difficulties in the first and second World Cups, how did you get back on your feet? What did you rely on? Where did you get the strength to keep saying, "I'll be back," and come back with such a happy smile, fighting again and encouraging everyone? What sustains you?
First of all, I'm a man of faith. I rely on God and my family. My family is always there, always supporting me. And my love for what I do. We're lucky to be able to do what we love most as a job. That's what motivates me to keep going and enjoy all of this, allowing me to get back up when I encounter difficulties.
This applies not only to football but to life in general—to everyone's work and the difficulties they face. Life is like this: you fall, you get up again, you try again.
Moreover, we are Uruguayans, and this spirit runs in our blood. Getting back up, trying again, not giving up easily—that's how everyone should face life. This is what I strive to incorporate into my life and career. Even when I encounter difficulties, I always have a smile on my face and firmly believe that the best is yet to come. I have no doubt about that.
Let's talk about your current club. Only a few months have passed, but I don't know if you or anyone expected you to have such an impact. You've played only a few games, and not even in your usual position, yet you've already won the affection of Liverpool fans. They were chanting your name against Atlético Madrid. What is Anfield like? How do you feel at Liverpool?
Honestly, I'm very happy and feel very comfortable here. From the moment I arrived, everyone made me feel welcome. My teammates, the coaching staff, and the fans made me feel at home from the very beginning. This helps a lot and gives you more confidence when you step onto the field, allowing you to respond with strong performances and give your all.
I'm truly very happy and grateful to be experiencing such moments. Next, I will continue to work hard and train hard as I am now. I hope we can have an excellent season.
The Premier League is characterized by its fast pace, high intensity, and physical play, which suits your playing style well. Have you ever thought, "I want to go there and prove I can play in the Premier League"?
No, no. I don't do these things to respond to others or to prove anything. I know my worth and what I can do as a player, and I'm very confident in that. I simply enjoy playing football.
Thank God, I finally have the continuous playing opportunities I've always wanted. I know what kind of player I am and what I can do when I have regular playing time and that confidence. Now, I'm enjoying the game and doing what I love most. Through this process, I can see the results of my hard work, because I am indeed a very hardworking person. I believe that if you put in the effort, you will see results.
