Today, Arsenal announced a new contract extension with head coach Mikel Arteta. The club officially stated on their website that Arteta will have the opportunity to continue pursuing the achievements of Arsenal's legendary managers. Statistics show that he is already the Arsenal manager with the highest win rate in the club's history and ranks among the elite in many other metrics.

With his new contract extending his tenure in North London—already spanning seven years—Arteta will have the opportunity to surpass the achievements of some of Arsenal's most legendary managers.
The coach lifted the Premier League trophy in May this year, becoming only the eighth Gunners manager to lead the club to a league title. In addition, he has led Arsenal to the Champions League final, won an FA Cup, and finished in the top two of the league for the past four seasons. Statistically, there is no doubt that he is already among the greatest managers in the club's history.
Having surpassed the 350-game milestone at the end of last season, Arteta is now heading towards managing 400 games for Arsenal, a target likely to be achieved sometime in the 2026/27 season. Compared to the six managers who have overseen more games at Arsenal, Arteta holds a significant advantage: across his 361 games managed so far, he has achieved the highest win rate among all his predecessors:
Arsenal Managers' Win Rate Ranking (minimum 50 games managed)
Arteta: 361 games, 220 wins, 67 draws, 74 losses, 60.9% win rate
Wenger: 1235 games, 707 wins, 280 draws, 248 losses, 57.2% win rate
Emery: 78 games, 43 wins, 16 draws, 19 losses, 55.1% win rate
Harry Bradshaw: 184 games, 96 wins, 35 draws, 53 losses, 52.2% win rate
Herbert Chapman: 403 games, 201 wins, 97 draws, 105 losses, 49.9% win rate
George Graham: 460 games, 225 wins, 133 draws, 102 losses, 48.9% win rate
Tom Whittaker: 429 games, 202 wins, 106 draws, 121 losses, 47.1% win rate
George Allison: 279 games, 129 wins, 74 draws, 76 losses, 46.2% win rate
Don Howe: 117 games, 54 wins, 32 draws, 31 losses, 46.2% win rate
Terry Neill: 416 games, 187 wins, 117 draws, 112 losses, 45.0% win rate
Bertie Mee: 540 games, 241 wins, 148 draws, 151 losses, 44.6% win rate
At 44 years and 54 days old, the Spaniard became the youngest Gunners manager to win the league title, narrowly surpassing George Graham, who was 124 days older than Arteta when he led Arsenal to victory in the legendary 1988/89 season.
Beyond Arsenal, Arteta continues to establish himself among the best coaches in English football. Earlier this season, he achieved his 150th Premier League win, and only four managers reached this milestone faster than him, doing so in 249 games.
With five more league victories, he will enter the top ten all-time Premier League managers by number of wins. In terms of points per game, only six coaches have a better record than Arteta, with Mikel closely trailing three of them:
Premier League Points Per Game Ranking (minimum 50 games managed)
Guardiola: 380 games, 2.28 points per game
Ferguson: 809 games, 2.17 points per game
Klopp: 334 games, 2.11 points per game
Mancini: 133 games, 2.05 points per game
Conte: 132 games, 2.03 points per game
Mourinho: 363 games, 2.02 points per game
Arteta: 252 games, 2.01 points per game
Arteta is currently the longest-serving manager in the English Premier League, and his longevity is reflected in the fact that only five managers have overseen more Premier League games for a single club—including David Moyes and Arsène Wenger, his only two managers during his playing career in England, and Pep Guardiola, under whom he served as assistant coach.
Premier League Games Managed for a Single Club Ranking
Ferguson (Manchester United): 810 games
Wenger (Arsenal): 828 games
Guardiola (Manchester City): 380 games
Klopp (Liverpool): 334 games
Moyes (Everton): 459 games
Arteta (Arsenal): 361 games
Arteta is the youngest manager to reach 150 Premier League wins. Only his compatriot Roberto Martínez reached 250 Premier League games managed at a younger age. Meanwhile, only José Mourinho was younger than Arteta when he won the Premier League title.
