Everton will face Hull City away in the FA Cup 6th round. Ahead of the match, Moyes attended a press conference and discussed the club's official statement today regarding the sale of its controlling stake.

Moyes admitted he was surprised when news broke that The Friedkin Group (TFG) was preparing to sell Everton, learning of it only on Friday morning. The Friedkin Group completed its acquisition of Farhad Moshiri's 94.1% stake in Everton in December 2024, and has spearheaded the club's relocation from Goodison Park to the new Everton Stadium.
Moyes said: "I was surprised because they've only been here for a year and a half. I think most of us thought they'd be here for the next 20 or 30 years. But looking at what happened during the transfer window, we could have seen some signs.
"I was a bit surprised, but perhaps I shouldn't have been. No, I don't feel let down, because I love this club too much. They could sell this job to me at any time and I'd still take it. Instead, I feel more disappointed for the Everton fans, because they have been through so many difficult times. The last thing they want to hear is this news.
"Last season, apart from the money we had to pay Burnley, we didn't have much upheaval throughout the season, and we were in a strong position in the league table, performing well. So I'm more disappointed for the Everton fans, because they're going through another period of uncertainty about who the new owners will be."
Moyes added: "This is a great club. If someone wants to buy it and is willing to speak with me, I'll be the first to talk to them and let them know this club is worth buying."
