According to The Sun, West Ham fans believe one of the worst refereeing decisions of the season occurred during their Championship match against Queens Park Rangers.

In the 18th minute, Soucek was adjudged to have committed a foul in the penalty area, and Nicolás Madsen successfully converted the resulting penalty kick. Controversy erupted when Soucek appeared to have won the ball first, and the contact occurred outside the penalty box.
The decision sparked outrage among fans and reignited calls for VAR implementation in the Championship. One fan wrote, "That's the worst refereeing decision you'll see all season! Unbelievable." Another commented, "This ref has West Ham fans actually missing VAR. He literally has no business being on the pitch, absolutely shameful."
Another supporter added, "That's one of the worst penalty decisions I've ever seen in a West Ham match. A legitimate tackle outside the box blown for a penalty, it's laughable." Someone else wrote, "The refereeing in the West Ham vs QPR match was terrible! That was clearly not a penalty—the ref must not have seen Soucek win the ball."
A further fan said, "We had complete control of the ball and it was outside the box, yet they gave a penalty. Minute 18, welcome back to FA refereeing standards." West Ham supporters also joked about the Championship's lack of VAR, with one writing, "Alright, I actually miss VAR now." Another added, "This is the first time all season I've wished we had VAR. That decision was genuinely terrible."
