Chelsea pip Tottenham to signing of Crewe Alexandra's prolific teenage striker George Nunn

Chelsea have signed Crewe Alexandra's teenage striker George Nunn.

The 16-year-old has not made a first team appearance, but has been a prolific scorer at junior level and was also a target for Tottenham.

Crewe will receive about £300,000 in compensation plus add-ons from Chelsea for Nunn, who hails from Nantwich, and has made the step up to under-18 level this season.

Nunn is expected to bolster Chelsea's already burgeoning youth ranks, with Jodie Morris' Under 18 side into the semi-finals of the UEFA Youth League where they will face Porto.

He will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of academy graduate Tammy Abraham, who was a regular scorer for the Blues' age-group sides before making the step up to senior level.

Currently on loan at Swansea, Abraham has struck seven times in 38 games so far this season, earning a call-up for the England squad in the process.
