The Italian Players’ Association denounced the ‘vile’ attack on Foggia captain Federico Gentile, as ultras set fire to his front door.

Local news reports state the 35-year-old was at home with his wife and young children when fire alarms went off last night.

The Serie C side reacted with horror at the attack, pointing out “it could’ve ended up being far, far worse.”

Gentile “was asleep when I woke up and saw smoke. I am shaken. I came here to work, so now obviously I am thinking of leaving, because this put my family in danger.”
