Arsenal 'are prepared to make Martin Odegaard's loan permanent' after it became clear Real Madrid are willing to sell him to raise funds to buy Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian attacking midfielder, 22, joined the Gunners on loan back in January and has since scored two goals in 12 appearances for Mikel Arteta's side.

He could reportedly be one of nine players Real will look to offload over the summer to fund the purchase of either Mbappe or Haaland, both of which will cost upwards of £150million.

According to The Times, Real could sell Odegaard for £35million after Zinedine Zidane didn't offer him and opportunity to compete for a starting place at the Bernabeu.

He started just three LaLiga and two Champions League matches for Real in the first half of the season, spending most of the time either out injured or warming the bench, and asked to go out on loan.

The Arsenal loan is Odegaard's fourth since Real signed him for £2.5m back in 2015 following previous spells with Heerenveen, Vitesse Arnhem and Real Sociedad.

In total during that time, he has played just 11 matches for Real's first team and his chance is unlikely to come even if Zidane leaves his post in the summer.

Real's list of fundraising player sales also features Gareth Bale, currently on loan at Tottenham, forward Luka Jovic and another Arsenal loanee, Dani Ceballos.

Arsenal are reportedly not expected to sign Ceballos when his second season with the club finishes.

Real are determined to make a statement signing this summer despite their financial troubles and held talks with Borussia Dortmund striker Haaland this week.
