Former Juventus defender Bonucci was interviewed by Alessandro Lucci's WSA agency, where he reflected on significant moments throughout his career.

Bonucci said: "The 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons took my career to an incredible level. In 2015, I played in the Champions League final against Barcelona. In 2016, the year ended with Euro 2016, where we were eliminated by Germany on penalties, and I even scored a goal against Neuer. That was the start of an upward trajectory in my career."

Bonucci also discussed Guardiola's pursuit of him. Guardiola wanted to bring him to Manchester City at that time. Bonucci also recalled his move to AC Milan. He said: "After transferring to AC Milan the following year, my performances lacked impact because I lost my clarity after what happened in 2017. At that time, his analysis of the situation was very clear. I was about to become a cornerstone of Juventus and should have continued on that path. There was nothing that made me feel 'you're no longer comfortable here, you need to leave.' I was in a comfort zone that allowed me to maintain a high standard, so leaving made no sense."

Bonucci also spoke about difficult family moments after Euro 2016 and his relationship with Juventus. He said: "After Euro 2016, I spoke with Juventus, which coincided with my son Matteo being ill. I've always believed that bringing all forces together creates wonderful things."

Bonucci revealed that Juventus was unwilling to let him go, regardless of any offer. He said: "Matteo's illness, combined with my own reluctance to leave Juventus 100%, and the fact that Juventus told me that even with an extraordinary transfer fee, they would not let me go, made staying the natural outcome. Being coached by Guardiola might have allowed me to accumulate more knowledge about technical and tactical aspects, and reflecting on this experience both in and outside football has helped me grow as a person."
