According to Goal, Portugal coach Jorge Jesus stated that Ronaldo's availability will depend on his performance in training and matches.

Jesus will manage the Portuguese national team for the first time after replacing Spaniard Roberto Martinez. He called up several key players, including Al Nassr's Ronaldo, for Portugal's preparation for the first two rounds of the UEFA Nations League.

Jesus emphasized that Ronaldo's call-up was not based solely on his past achievements; the player's performance in training and matches would be the decisive factor in his inclusion.

At the press conference after announcing the Portugal squad, Jesus stated, "If he plays, he will fulfill his role. The key is his performance."

Jesus said, "The past is not important, but his entire career will be taken into consideration. However, like everyone else, my decisions about him will be performance-based."

He continued, "Regarding Ronaldo, he is like any other player. If he is in good form, he will play; if not, he won't. I apply this to everyone."

Jesus acknowledged that Ronaldo holds a special status due to his extraordinary career, but this would not give him any advantage in the national team's tactical decisions.

Jesus stated, "Is Ronaldo's status different? Yes. His resume is different, and he has five Ballon d'Or awards. But will this affect my decisions? No, not at all."

He concluded, "But is he different from others? Yes, he is." Jesus also stressed that Ronaldo's participation would still depend on the level of performance he demonstrates.

Jesus also revealed that 13 players on the squad had previously worked with him. He believes that his familiarity with several national team members will help him as he begins his coaching career, especially given that there is not yet a completely settled core squad.

Jesus said, "This helps me because I don't have a ready-made fixed squad or starting lineup yet. The national team is about to start playing, so having some important players with whom I've worked is helpful."
