According to a Sky Sport Italia journalist, Chivu's absence from Inter Milan's pre-match press conference ahead of their away fixture against Roma is unrelated to defending Josep Martinez.

Matteo Barzaghi, a journalist from Sky Sport Italia, discussed Chivu's absence from the pre-match press conference during an interview with Radio Mana Mana Sport.

Barzaghi said: "Not holding a press conference to defend Martinez? I don't think the two are connected. Chivu was absent because the club felt he has been appearing too frequently recently. Whether in the Champions League or the league, he has been constantly speaking, and the club believes that before a match like this, it's best not to have him attend the press conference."
