According to Di Marzio, in his new book "Oltre", Totti revealed that both Genoa and Como had invited him to make a comeback.

Totti stated that his potential return to the field was once more than just media speculation—it had entered actual negotiation stages. In this autobiography, he reflected on his life since retiring on May 28, 2017.
Totti wrote: "The first to contact me were the Genoa executives, and I spoke with them directly. They asked a very simple question: 'So, do you really want to try this new experience?'"
This contact prompted Totti to seriously assess his physical condition. He stopped eating sweets, trained in the gym three times a week, and was assisted by two physiotherapists. Totti said: "I didn't feel overly strained during training, except for some minor ailments that almost everyone approaching 50 experiences. My back was a bit stiff, but it wasn't a major issue. I was 48 at the time, but age can always be overcome. People get slower, but footwork doesn't age, and everyone agrees on that: it doesn't need Botox."
In addition to frequently exchanging messages with Gilardino, Totti was also pursued by Como. However, what truly prevented his comeback was his loyalty to Roma. Totti wrote: "A clear answer always echoed in my heart. The key lies in Roma; it's not a problem, and it never will be. Whether at 18 or 48, sporting betrayal has nothing to do with age."
