Mac Allister has once again discussed his future at Liverpool after reporting for duty with the Argentina national team.

Mac Allister stated that he is very happy at Liverpool and clarified his previous comments about his future. The Argentina international has two years remaining on his contract at Anfield but has not yet held talks with the club about an extension.

Ahead of Liverpool's Champions League opener against Atlético Madrid, the 27-year-old admitted he was "very, very sad" to learn the club had no intention of offering him a new contract.

Mac Allister has been in excellent form this season, recovering from a disappointing 2024/25 season to establish himself in the starting XI and contribute two goals and one assist in Liverpool's first seven games.

Now, as Mac Allister joins the Argentina national team, he said it is still possible he could sign a new contract, but he would also accept remaining on Merseyside to fulfill his current deal if a new offer is not forthcoming.

He told ESPN Argentina when speaking about his future: "Nothing has been definitively decided yet. The reality is, I have two years left on my contract.

"At that press conference, because everyone was asking about my future, I spoke purely out of emotion. I wasn't criticizing the club or saying anything else.

"Ultimately, the club is the one making decisions and responsible for operations, and that's perfectly fine with me.

"As I said, I will give my all. I still have two years on my contract, and a lot can happen in two years—there are many opportunities.

"From my side, I'm really enjoying where I am now. I hope I can stay here longer, but if it ends up only being two years, that's okay too.

"I want to enjoy this time with my family because I have no doubt that this is one of the best clubs in the world."
