According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea have been charged by the FA for alleged discriminatory behavior by fans during last month's West London derby against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The FA accused Chelsea of breaching FA Rule E21, with the incident occurring in the ninth minute of the Premier League match on August 24. An FA spokesperson stated: "It is alleged that the club failed to ensure that its spectators and/or supporters conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and refrained from improper, offensive, abusive, indecent or insulting conduct. It is further alleged that the conduct was discriminatory as it included a reference, whether express or implied, to religion or belief."

Chelsea had previously sent a letter to fans following their 3-2 away victory over Fulham. That match was Chelsea's first Premier League game of the new season, and the club received multiple reports of sectarian chanting by some fans.

In their email to fans, Chelsea warned that "the strongest possible action" would be taken against those responsible, including banning them from attending matches. The club stated: "The passion and support of our fans are vital to achieving a successful season, and we encourage you to continue cheering on the team. Following this match, we received multiple reports of sectarian chanting by a small number of individuals. We want to strongly remind all supporters that the club does not tolerate any discriminatory chanting targeting protected characteristics."
