Former Manchester United midfielder Van de Beek's career is back on track, scoring after more than a year to help Girona secure a Segunda División victory.

When Van de Beek initially joined Manchester United for £35 million, the deal seemed like a sound investment. However, the former Ajax midfielder never managed to secure a regular starting spot and is widely regarded as a disappointing signing.

Even the arrival of his former manager Erik Ten Hag couldn't revive his Manchester United career. In 2024, Van de Beek was sold for just £500,000.

Van de Beek's new club, Girona, had just finished third in LaLiga, with high hopes for their future. However, the team's performance has since declined steadily.

In the 2025/26 season, Girona was relegated from LaLiga. Van de Beek suffered an Achilles tendon rupture early in the campaign, adding to his ongoing injury troubles.

Now playing in the Segunda División, Van de Beek scored his first goal since October 2024 in Girona's 2-0 victory over Albacete.
