According to Goal.com, Al Nassr has offered Al-Aqidi a lucrative contract extension, and both parties are discussing a three-year renewal.

Al-Aqidi's contract with Al Nassr expires at the end of this season, meaning he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any team during the winter transfer window and join them next summer as a free agent.

Saudi journalist Saud Al-Salami stated on Al Arabiya FM radio: "To my knowledge, Al Nassr has begun talks with Nawaf Al-Aqidi about a contract extension. The club hopes to renew his contract for three years."

He added: "I hope Al-Aqidi's agent, Mishal Al-Saffai, will cooperate with Al Nassr's management because both the club and the fans want to keep this goalkeeper and do not want him to leave."

He continued: "I hope both parties' demands are reasonable and realistic, especially since the current offer from Al Nassr is considered the best contract a goalkeeper can receive in Saudi Arabia, the Arab world, and the Gulf region."

Al-Aqidi is currently recovering from a serious injury sustained while representing the Saudi national team in the Gulf Cup 27, specifically during the first group stage match—a 1-0 victory over Kuwait.

Regarding the injury, Al-Salami said: "Al-Aqidi will be sidelined for 5 to 10 weeks. He will travel to Europe for further treatment, though the specific country has not yet been determined; it could be England, Spain, Germany, or France."

Al-Aqidi was Al Nassr's starting goalkeeper in the first half of last season, but due to some errors, he later lost his position to Brazilian goalkeeper Bento.
