According to Goal.com, Al Nassr has offered Al-Aqidi a new long-term contract and both parties are discussing a three-year contract extension.

Al-Aqidi's contract with Al Nassr expires at the end of this season. During the winter transfer window, he can sign a pre-contract agreement with any club, and in the summer he can move on a free transfer.

Saudi journalist Saud Al-Salami said on Al Arabiya FM: "As far as I know, Al Nassr has started discussions with Nawaf Al-Aqidi to extend his contract. The club wants to extend his deal for three years."

He continued: "I expect Al-Aqidi's agent Mishal Al-Safai to work together with Al Nassr's management. Both the club and the fans want to keep this striker and are not happy with him leaving."

He added: "The demands from both sides are reasonable and I expect them to be realistic. Especially, Al Nassr's current offer is considered the best contract a striker could get in Saudi Arabia, the Arab world, and the Gulf region."

Al-Aqidi is currently dealing with a serious injury. He sustained this injury during the group stage opening match when Saudi Arabia defeated Kuwait 1-0 on June 27.

Regarding the injury, Al-Salami said: "Al-Aqidi will need to rest for five to ten weeks. After that, he will go to Europe for further treatment, but the specific country has not been decided yet. It could be England, Spain, Germany, or France."
