According to Football.London, Arsenal face contract renewal pressure over the next year, with as many as nine players potentially becoming free agents in the summer of 2025.

The Bosman ruling allows players to leave freely once their contracts expire, which could cost Arsenal millions of pounds in revenue unless sporting director Berta acts quickly to secure renewals.
In just over a year, as many as nine Arsenal players will be eligible to negotiate pre-contract agreements with overseas clubs for free transfers in the summer of 2025. Unless all of them choose to renew with Arsenal, Berta will have tough decisions to make.
Berta needs to weigh the options: risk these players leaving on free transfers after next season, or sell them in time to cut losses. Since his appointment in March 2024, the Italian has successfully retained several key players, with Saka being the latest to agree to a new deal.
However, in recent years, several players have also left on free transfers or for low fees, costing the club millions of pounds in potential revenue. Real Madrid is also known for signing players at low prices, having recently brought in Konaté and Bernardo Silva on free transfers from Liverpool and Manchester City, respectively.
Currently, Berta doesn't have much to worry about, but by this time next year, as many as nine Arsenal players will be just weeks away from being eligible to start pre-contract talks with overseas clubs.
Football.London has compiled a list of Arsenal players who need new contracts.
Rice signed a five-year contract when he joined Arsenal from West Ham United for a transfer fee of £100 million plus £5 million in add-ons. The 27-year-old midfielder has recently become one of the best midfielders in the world and has helped Arsenal compete for the Premier League title and reach the Champions League final.
Shortly after Arsenal finalized the Rice deal, Ødegaard also signed a five-year extension, keeping him at Arsenal until at least June 2029. After a few inconsistent seasons, the Arsenal captain has had an excellent start to this season and deserves a new contract as a reward.
Timber signed a five-year contract with Arsenal in the summer of 2023, joining from Ajax for a transfer fee of approximately £38 million. The 25-year-old defender suffered a cruciate ligament injury in his Premier League debut but has since made a superb recovery from a difficult start to his North London career.
Havertz joined Arsenal from Chelsea in the summer of 2023 for £65 million. He also signed a five-year contract, becoming one of Arsenal's signings aimed at winning the Premier League after Arteta's first failed title challenge.
David Raya signed a four-year contract when he officially joined Arsenal from Brentford in July 2024, after having already spent 12 months on loan. With no significantly better options, the 31-year-old goalkeeper is likely to remain Arsenal's first-choice for some time.
Ben White signed a four-year contract extension in the summer of 2024. However, Arsenal also retains the option to extend his contract for another 12 months.
In August 2024, Merino joined Arsenal from Real Sociedad on a four-year contract for a transfer fee of up to £31.6 million. The 30-year-old midfielder has become a fan favorite at the Emirates, demonstrating strong goal-scoring ability in the absence of a natural center forward.
Arsenal signed Meslier on a free transfer this summer. Leeds United chose not to renew the contract of the 26-year-old goalkeeper, making him a free agent.
Arsenal signed Kepa from Chelsea last year, after he had previously been on loan at Bournemouth. The 31-year-old goalkeeper signed a three-year contract, but his performances have been unconvincing whenever Arteta has played him.
According to Transfermarkt, these nine Arsenal players currently have a combined market value of €413 million (£352.5 million). Arsenal cannot expect everyone to renew their contracts before December 2026, and Berta needs to act immediately.
