According to Corriere della Sera, Immobile discussed his retirement, a new phase for the Italian national team, and his final year at Lazio in an interview.

Immobile stated: "When you have a Rolls-Royce, but you find that it no longer runs as fast as it used to, you have to step aside.

This is exactly what happened to me. Besides, there's a certain pride in not wanting to leave a bad impression. I have given a lot to football and received a lot from it, and retiring is a form of respect I give to myself and to those who watched me play.

What changed? I've always lived a very structured life. Suddenly, there's no structure, so I reorganized myself: going to the gym, carefully overseeing my business projects, and spending a lot of time with my family."

Speaking about a new phase for the Italian national team, Immobile expressed his joy at Roberto Mancini's return as coach. Mancini previously led Immobile and the team to victory at Euro 2021.

Immobile said: "It's the best decision, not nostalgia. Mancini has the ability to unite the team and keep minds clear. He looks for important qualities that are as crucial as technical ability. He calls these players today, proving he has trust in them and giving them confidence. Everyone is highly motivated. No one will step back, and the results of this change are already visible.

He involves everyone in the same way, successfully bringing them together to achieve a common goal. The pitch belongs only to them; all disputes stay outside. If I were to replace Mancini? I still have a long way to go; in 10 years, I'd really like to sit there."

Regarding his final year at Lazio, Immobile commented: "They already saw me off, shook my hand, and in the end, I was the one who raised my hand and left. But I swear, until the very end, my relationship with Lotito was like a father and son relationship. So the sadness was doubled: I opened the door, and I also ended the awkwardness. Now they're leading the league? The fans must be very happy."
