Issa Dumbia's agent, Cheikh Fall, stated that his client delivered an impressive performance in his first start for Italy.

Issa Dumbia is one of Roberto Mancini's successful gambles. In his recent match, the Sporting CP midfielder born in 2003 made his first start for Italy and was among the best players on the field. He dominated play for large stretches of the second half. Fall said in an interview: "He didn't score, but he was still excellent. I watched the match at Stadio Ennio Tardini with his family—his mother and brothers—and this performance was truly important. Issa was very satisfied after the match."

Dumbia has previously cited Paul Pogba as a role model. What areas does he need to improve to reach that level?

Fall said: "That's right. Like most midfielders who grew up in that era, we all watched and learned from Pogba's game. As for his development, I believe he's already on the right path. Last year he was still playing in Serie B with Venezia, and now he's at a top European club, starting in the Champions League, and has appeared in four official matches for Italy with one start. Now he just needs to continue being himself, be bolder, but always enjoy the game."

How has Sporting CP helped him develop into a top midfielder?

Fall said: "It's the perfect environment we were looking for—a place where he can grow and play in a healthy, competitive atmosphere. At Sporting CP, he plays as one of two defensive midfielders, which isn't his primary position. But he's doing very well, and I have to say there are no issues. In fact, this versatility has made him more complete and capable of playing multiple midfield positions."

How has he performed for the national team?

Fall said: "Very well. He's featured in every match."

What is his relationship with Mancini like?

Fall said: "The coach has handled him really well. Mancini called him up at the right moment without putting pressure on him or placing excessive expectations."

Both Mancini and Ranieri seemed to take notice of him when they first arrived. How was the summer for him?

Fall said: "Yes, that's correct. They wanted him, they called for him, and he responded well to their calls. I hope we haven't let them down in the end."
