According to Milan News, following Croatia's 1-2 defeat to Spain, Modric spoke to Spanish media outlet Cadena Cope in the interview area about the possibility of returning to work at Real Madrid after retirement.

Modric said: "Of course, Real Madrid is my home, it's the club of my life. I spent 13 years there. We'll have to wait and see what happens in the future. As I said in my most recent interview, I would certainly like to return, but only if I can really help and work for Real Madrid, not just be there. I want to contribute fully. However, I also need to prepare and understand what role I would return in, what position, and whether the club would be willing to have me back. Many things need to align for a return, but we'll wait and see. For now, I'm not thinking about it."

Modric continued: "Right now I'm focused on playing, but as I just said, Real Madrid is my home, and returning would certainly be a dream. But we'll take it slowly, there's no need to rush. If after retirement I can find a role where I can make a difference and feel important, why not? But there's still time to think about all of that."
