In an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Malen discussed his current form, his chemistry with Dybala, and his reasons for leaving Aston Villa.

Have you heard of the nicknames "Dymalen" or "Dybalen"? They're portmanteaus. I was thinking: either Paulo understands Dutch, or you understand Spanish. To put it more simply, you speak the same language on the pitch.

Malen said: "Dymalen... it makes me think of chemistry. Yes, that's interesting online. Dybala and I clicked right away."

You've scored a lot of goals at PSV, Dortmund, Aston Villa, and Roma.

Malen stated: "I've never scored this many goals before, and it started from the first few matches of the season."

What has changed?

Malen replied: "I feel almost everything has changed. I've played many games in different positions, but now I feel I'm in the right place, surrounded by the right people. The coach and my teammates have given me a lot of confidence, and these factors combined have made me the player I've always dreamed of being."

Did you want to leave Aston Villa yourself, or did Emery push you out?

Malen said: "I wanted to leave myself. I wanted to play and be part of a team where I could play every weekend and have an important role. During that period, I felt I wasn't doing that, and I believe I made the best choice."

Now that the international break is over, you can be honest. Were you too injured to answer the Netherlands' call-up, or was it just a "minor injury" as Xavi said?

Malen stated: "I was injured, and I regret not being able to go to the national team."

Donny, at the end of the season, who will score more goals, you or Lautaro?

Malen responded: "I'd rather focus on myself for now."

Social media choice: Malen or Lautaro?

Malen answered: "Malen."

What's special about Gasperini?

Malen said: "His way of managing players is special, and you know he'll never lie to you about anything."

He flips chairs in the locker room.

Malen said: "It actually happened after the Parma game. It was great. He was so happy that even the tables flew."
