According to Tuttosport, Gosens spoke about his sudden departure from Fiorentina and revealed that he is now playing for his beloved club, Schalke 04.

Gosens said: "Football is a crazy game. About 8 weeks ago, I arrived at Fiorentina's training ground, only to be pushed out suddenly. I was no longer part of the team. I could only train alone and wasn't allowed to contact my teammates. New coach, new sporting director, same old story. Eight weeks later, Fiorentina's new coach was sacked, and everything was put into question again."

He added: "But what about me? I had come to the club of my heart. The club that introduced me to football, the club that, in a way, made me dream of standing on the pitch. I had invested so much time there and experienced many wonderful moments, but perhaps fate had it written this way: when I had nothing left at Fiorentina, Schalke reached out to me."

The winger, currently playing for Schalke 04, also scored his first goal for the club in their last league match.

Gosens said: "Sometimes the different turns that come with a footballer's career are truly absurd. Yesterday I was still at Fiorentina with a two-year contract in hand, and today I'm at Schalke, facing Bayern Munich at the Veltins Arena for the first time. There's barely any time to process everything. I wish I could freeze that Saturday night experience forever and rest with that memory for a while. But that's not possible, and honestly, that's actually a good thing."

He continued: "The important thing is that sometimes you don't know what life will bring you. All summer, I couldn't imagine leaving Fiorentina, and now I'm playing for a club that has reignited my love for football, and I'm very happy about that. The recent period has made me realize that all I can control is how I approach my current task, and I must be ready to give everything to succeed. I will do the same at Schalke, because when a club trusts me that much, it's a basic requirement. That Saturday night match clearly shows that waking up every day and giving your all is worth it."
