OGC Nice’s owners, INEOS, have given the green light for the Ligue 1 club to complete a deal to sign Stade Rennais defender Alidu Seidu on a ‘joker’ transfer, as per a report from L’Équipe.

Rules in France would permit the recruitment of the Ghana international, despite the closure of the transfer window in France on 1st September. Clubs are allowed to recruit a ‘joker’, should certain conditions be met. One of those conditions is a severe injury within the current squad. Antoine Mendy suffered an ACL injury during a draw against Le Mans earlier this month, which would allow Le Gym to dip into the market.
Seidu is currently on the fringes at Rennes, and he has now been made a priority target by Nice. Talks over a loan move with a buy option are currently underway between the two clubs. The deal is now progressing after INEOS gave the green light to make the investment.
