Former Internazionale player Viviano discussed Barella on a program and addressed criticism about the Italian star's goal-scoring record.

Viviano said: "Barella has one problem, and it's always the same one. Some commentators want him to score 12 or 13 goals every year, but Barella does a lot of work that few people in Europe can do. He's everywhere, involved in both attacking play and defense. Scoring goals isn't his strength, and it never has been. He can do everything and can play that way for the entire match. He is a severely underrated player."
