Manchester will face Fulham in Premier League Matchday 5 this evening at 23:30 (CEST). Before the match, Michael Carrick gave an exclusive interview to Sky Sports. In the third part of the interview (divided into three parts due to its length), he shared his views on Rashford, Maguire, and others.

Sometimes supporters get fixated on what a team's "identity" should be and how they should play. Look at Arsenal as an example: people once thought they prioritized defense, then they relied on counterattacking goals. This season they've shifted to a more attacking style. For you, with the Premier League being so competitive, isn't it necessary to be flexible and adapt your playing style rather than stick rigidly to one approach?

To be honest, I quite like it when our opponents don't understand our playing style. That makes us harder to predict. In attack, we need to be unpredictable. We can't let opponents easily read our next move or identify our main threats.

I prefer having a full arsenal of weapons and attacking from different angles. Since January, our attacking performance has been consistently good and we've scored significantly more goals. Being hard to predict is a major advantage.

There will be significant media pressure this week, and there will likely be much discussion about academy players like J.J. Gabriel. With your experience and many former players, do you think this generation of young players have excessive expectations placed on them too early, or is this just normal in modern football?

It's hard to generalize; everyone is different. Take Shea as an example: he got his first-team debut recently and scored a goal. This lad is genuinely talented. He has a positive attitude, wants to improve and learn, and patiently waited for his opportunity. When it came, he was fully prepared and seized it.

That's the academy's purpose and the pinnacle of its efforts. Football is always evolving, and both young and experienced players must constantly adapt. It's an integral part of the game.

Shea Lacey was born in Liverpool and kissed the Manchester United badge after scoring. Have you imagined a scene like this before?

He's been at the club for a long time. It's wonderful to see a player with such commitment to the club. That's the academy's value. Manchester United always produces its own academy graduates. It's important to cultivate this sense of belonging among academy players and help them break into the first team.

As we speak, England has announced its squad list, and both Maguire and Rashford are included. I'd like to talk about Rashford. When he made his first-team debut, you were captain on the pitch. What are the differences between the inexperienced young player you first saw on the training ground and the current player?

All young players are like that. A person at sixteen or seventeen is completely different from someone at twenty-seven or twenty-eight. They should be. People mature, develop, learn, and experience shapes them. Yes, he has many natural talents, but over the years his playing style has continuously evolved and improved.

In his first season at Oldham, he scored two goals and impressed everyone. I've known Rashford for a long time; this club has significant meaning in his life, and I'm delighted he's still here.

Finally, let's talk about Sunday's away match against Fulham. Manchester United has historic records at Craven Cottage. Our last defeat there was in December 2009. I remember you played in that match. Now you have the chance to rewrite that history. How do you view the away fixture?

I'm really looking forward to this match. It will certainly be a difficult one. Fulham showed impressive performance against Liverpool last week and recently beat West Ham United. Looking at their performances, they deserve more points than they currently have. I enjoy playing at Craven Cottage. The atmosphere there is very special.

But this time you won't need to play center-back.

After that experience, I never want to play center-back again. Though there are many memories from that position, matches are still difficult. We're facing one of our biggest challenges, and I'm very much looking forward to it.
