Roy Keane disagrees with Rodri, the former Manchester City midfielder who insists that all of the club's achievements are well-deserved and cannot be taken away.

Rodri won four Premier League titles with Manchester City between 2021 and 2024. He captained Spain against England at Wembley last Saturday and shared his thoughts on the matter.

"No one can take away what we have achieved. This is not something bought with money; it's the result of hard work, teamwork, and fighting together day in and day out," he said at a pre-match press conference.

"We have had so much success, and I can tell you that all of our honors are well-deserved. I'm very fortunate to have experienced one of English football's most glorious eras."

"Every club should abide by the rules, there's no doubt about that. Manchester City has always believed they did nothing wrong, and we choose to believe that too."

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane does not agree with this narrative. He believes that if Manchester City is found guilty, the club must accept the corresponding penalties.

"This has dragged on for too long, and it's time for a resolution," Keane said on ITV. "I completely disagree with Rodri's remarks. It was the club that made the choice; they chose to violate the rules and cheat.

"The honors they've won over the past few years should result in corresponding penalties. While it's difficult to define the extent of the punishment, cheating is a fact. Now that they've been found guilty, they must accept the consequences.

"Being found guilty itself is shocking. Were all 114 charges upheld? This is huge news."

Arsenal legend Ian Wright also disagreed with Rodri's view. While he acknowledged that players' personal experiences cannot be taken away, he believes trophies and honors absolutely can be stripped.

"He said that he and his teammates fought together, and that personal experience truly cannot be taken away—that's true," Wright stated. "But their honors should be stripped, and they should be punished for it.

"They can keep those memories and good times in their hearts, but look at the other teams who honestly competed by the rules and tried to catch up to them—it's just not fair to others!

"What about Liverpool's legacy? What could Klopp's team have achieved?

"Manchester City achieved these results by cheating, and other teams and players missed countless great opportunities because of it. I'm glad it has finally come to this."
