In the first round of the UEFA Nations League A, England suffered a 2-3 home defeat to Spain. Post-match footage showed England midfielder Rice taking a photo of his son with Yamal, telling the young Spanish winger, "You're the best."

Rice had withdrawn from the England squad for the current training camp, but the Arsenal midfielder attended Wembley Stadium to watch England's 2-3 loss to Spain.

Footage from the stadium tunnel released by the England team after the match showed Rice, wearing a hat and smiling, holding his phone to photograph his son with Yamal. After taking the photo, Rice shook hands and embraced Yamal, then leaned in and said, "You're the best, see you later, thank you."
