Zinedine Zidane was thrilled with France's resilience as he wildly celebrated their late 1-0 victory over Belgium in the Nations League.

Despite a strong performance in Brussels, it looked like France would have to settle for a point at the Stade Roi Baudouin as they struggled to find that last bit of quality in attack. 

However, Michael Olise came off the bench to score an 88th-minute winner, racing through Belgium's half before curling a lovely low finish into the bottom-right corner.

France have now won both games under Zidane, moving top of Group A1.

Olise has now registered 13 goal involvements in his 14 matches for France, scoring his fourth goal on Monday (also nine assists).

Zidane was animated on the touchline following Olise's run before powerfully kicking one of the loose balls around the side of the pitch as he celebrated.

"I went with him!" Zidane joked to TF1 when asked about the scene. "I saw him dribble; I thought he was going to score. In any case, I was totally into it too.

"Overall, we deserved it in the match; everyone was involved. That's what we love. I think we were dominant, and that's quite logical over the whole match.

"We were deserving of the whole match, and in the end, we managed to score this goal that could have happened on the other side, because they had two or three chances. But with our match, we really deserved this little goal."

Desire Doue was one of the standout performers, hitting the woodwork and having five shots while also creating four chances for his team-mates.

He is just one of five players to record 5+ shots, 5+ successful dribbles and 4+ chances created in a match with France, and the first since Kylian Mbappe – who was out injured for this game – against Azerbaijan in 2025.

Esteban Lepaul also had chances to score for France in his first start for Les Bleus, having four shots worth a team-high 0.5 expected goals (xG).

"We played a good match, a good first half, consistent overall," Lepaul told TF1.

"We corrected a few details regarding our pressing at half-time. But it was a very interesting match; we even hit the woodwork two or three times.

"Everyone celebrated Michael Olise's goal; that's the strength of the group. Everyone supports each other; that's how we'll move forward."
