In Portugal's 4-2 victory over Denmark, Leao wore Ronaldo's number 7 jersey. After the match in the mixed zone at Parken Stadium, Leao stated that Ronaldo was his childhood idol and the number 7 also held special meaning for him. He is confident that Ronaldo will be pleased at home with the team's victory.

On wearing the number 7 jersey

Leao said, "Yes, Ronaldo is my idol, my childhood idol. The number 7 has special meaning for me; my children were born on the 7th. I just want to do my best to honor this jersey and enjoy playing with my teammates. I think what matters most is that we play well and win."

On Ronaldo leaving Portugal's national team training camp

Leao commented, "This has nothing to do with us. We proved that we are a united group, and he must also be happy about this victory at home. I have a good relationship with him; I know what kind of person he is. What matters most is the team. We got three more points and are at the top of the group. Now we need proper rest and prepare for Monday's match. This has nothing to do with us. What matters is our collective spirit, and we must respond as one."

On the victory in Denmark

Leao stated, "We knew it would be a difficult match. They play at home with the support of their fans. This team is very similar to Norway—very strong physically—but the coach prepared us very well. In these two matches, we have played very organized from the start. Then we created scoring chances and were very efficient in converting them, ultimately scoring four goals."
