After Italy's 1-1 draw with France in the third match of the UEFA Nations League group stage away from home, Italian captain Gianluigi Donnarumma gave an interview to Sport Mediaset

On the Best Save of the Match

If I had to pick one save, I'd choose the one from Adrien Rabiot's shot. It was an extremely difficult save and a real challenge, but I'm very happy and satisfied because I was able to help the team with my performance. We earned a valuable draw away against such a strong opponent and top-ranked team.

We already knew that playing away here wouldn't be easy because our opponents have incredibly talented players—world-class stars at the highest level. So I'm very pleased to have helped the team. Beyond that, I saw excellent fighting spirit and determination from the entire squad, which made me very proud.

Our overall performance tonight was complete and reflected in how we played. This was demonstrated by the strong pressing from our defense, with Bastoni showing it before the goal—he pushed up almost to the opponent's penalty area to press high and counterattack. So this aggressive and proactive attitude is what we need to maintain and continue. We need to become a team full of initiative, brave in our pressing, and quick to win the ball back. I'm incredibly proud of my teammates.

Of course, at certain moments in the match, our opponents pressed us in our own half with excellent individual skill and overall strength, which is completely normal. But even during our defensive phases with a low block, we proved with our actions that we're a flexible team and extremely difficult to beat. As long as we maintain this strong spirit and determination, it will be very hard for any opponent to defeat us.

Are You Disappointed with the Draw Tonight?

To be honest, I always have hope. Late in the match, I really wanted to win it and take the victory home. So yes, if you're talking about disappointment, there's a little bit, of course.

But it's fine. This result is acceptable, and everyone performed very well. Our entire team—this young group—is on the right path for rapid growth and progress. I'm incredibly proud of every single teammate. We've just started a new phase and still have plenty of time to achieve all our remaining goals. Overall, when I see our training mentality, work ethic, and unity on the pitch, I'm genuinely happy and proud of each and every one of my teammates.
