Mauricio Pochettino has named "perfect role model" Tyler Adams as the United States' new captain.

The decision comes after previous captain Tim Ream announced his retirement from international football, with Adams taking on the role for the second time.
The Bournemouth midfielder led the USA at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where they were knocked out in the last 16 by the Netherlands.
Pochettino's side reached the same stage this summer when they hosted the tournament, and he believes Adams is the right person to lead the team through the next World Cup cycle.
"I think [we're] so happy to announce and for everyone to know that he's going to be our leader and our captain," Pochettino said about Adams.
"I think we've been [in] a very good relationship in the last two years. I think we were talking a lot, and I think he knows what I expect, and he's a perfect role model for everyone in the way that the philosophy, the future, representing that amazing country.
"I think he's the player and the person that can lead that period that we have ahead. And I [say] congratulations."

The USA have impressed during this international break, following up a 4-1 win over Peru with a 4-2 victory over Chile.
Next up for Pochettino's side is a clash with rivals Mexico, and the former Tottenham boss feels a tough atmosphere at State Farm Stadium will help his team grow.
"I think this type of adversity is a good example," added Pochettino.
"I celebrate to have this type of game, to play in a difficult atmosphere, and I think that for sure is going to help for the future."
