According to Di Marzio, Austrian defender David Alaba, who joined Udinese as a free agent, was officially unveiled at a press conference. He stated that he had always wanted to play in Serie A and praised Udinese as a club with a long and storied history.

Alaba said at the press conference: "Udinese is a traditional club with a long history." The former Real Madrid player discussed the positions he can play: "I can play many positions, and I'm here to help the team." Regarding his role in the locker room, he added: "I'm someone who is very willing to take on responsibility, and that's the same with the Austrian national team. Throughout my career, I've always tried to take on such a role at Bayern and Real Madrid."
Beyond performing well at Udinese, Alaba also hopes to become a regular for the Austrian national team again: "I've always been in contact with the coach, we have a good relationship, and I believe my experience at Udinese can help me return in top form. We jointly decided to skip this national team call-up."
On Serie A and his decision to join Udinese, Alaba revealed what convinced him: "I mainly spoke with the coach, and he convinced me to believe in the project here. I took the appropriate time to make this decision, and over time I became convinced this was the right path for me. I have always wanted to play in Serie A."
The Austrian also revealed he had been in contact with other Italian clubs before choosing Udinese. He then assured fans about his fitness: "I feel very good and I'm ready to play. I've trained with the whole team, so I'm confident I'm ready to play."
