According to Bild, Schick was named Czech Footballer of the Year for 2025 in Prague and stated that he does not rule out a return to the national team.

After an early World Cup exit and withdrawing from the Czech national team three months ago, Bayer Leverkusen forward Schick was awarded the "Golden Ball" in Prague on Monday. When asked about a potential return to the national team, Schick said, "I'm still thinking about it." However, he added, "If I'm healthy and feel like I can contribute something to the national team and be helpful, then we can talk again. But my previous form made me unsure if I could still be an asset."
When Schick initially left the team, the World Cup exit was not the main reason. He mentioned that the competitive direction of both the team and the football association was not ideal—a situation that appears to have changed. After the World Cup, former coach Miroslav Koubek's contract with the association was terminated, and Santiago Denia took over. Schick commented on this, saying, "We spoke with Santiago Denia and manager Pavel Nedved. The team's playing style looks much better than before. Most importantly, the atmosphere around the national team is also different—much more positive. From my perspective, the working environment there is now more comfortable."
As the Czech national team's star player, Schick was once made a scapegoat and faced immense pressure. He said, "I started playing in 2016, and apart from a good performance at Euro 2020, the overall atmosphere has always been poor. When you've been with the team for so long, all of this becomes mentally exhausting." At Euro 2020, the Czech Republic lost 1-2 to Denmark in the semi-finals.
Schick is currently in excellent form. Xabi Alonso relies on him more than any previous Bayer Leverkusen coach, which has boosted Schick's confidence. He was the only player to score in each of the first four Bundesliga matchdays and currently has five goals and one assist in six matches. Schick has scored 26 goals for the national team, ranking third on the team's all-time scoring list, and is expected to add more in the future. National team coach Denia, discussing Schick's potential return, said, "We discussed his situation a week ago: the door is open for him."
