Mikel Arteta declared last season's Premier League title triumph was "only the beginning" for Arsenal after signing a three-year contract extension at the Emirates Stadium.

On Wednesday, the Gunners confirmed Arteta had agreed to fresh terms to run until 2030, after entering the final year of his previous deal.
Having taken charge of Arsenal – who he represented 150 times as a player between 2011 and 2016 – in November 2019, Arteta has overseen their return to the top of the domestic game.
Following three straight Premier League runner-up finishes in 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25, Arteta finally ended Arsenal's 22-year wait to become champions of England in 2025-26.
He also led them to the finals of the FA Cup and the Champions League, though they fell short in both instances, against Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.
Arteta's other major trophy came in his first season at the helm, overseeing an FA Cup final success over Chelsea in 2020, and the Gunners have progressed year-on-year under his management, finishing eighth in the Premier League in 2019-20 and 2020-21, fifth in 2021-22, second in each of the next three seasons, then ending their title drought.
Arteta's win rate of 61% through 361 games in charge (W220 D67 L74) is the highest of any manager in Arsenal's history (minimum 25 matches), and he feels there is still more to come.

"This club is unique, with its character and the way it makes you feel, and I have a great sense of privilege that our journey together will continue," Arteta told the club's website.
"We have already built a special bond and created memories that will last a lifetime, and what is so exciting is that this is only the beginning of what we can achieve together.
"This is such a proud moment for me and my family. I feel the love and respect from our fantastic supporters, and they have mine – and ours – in return."
Arteta has overseen 253 Premier League games with Arsenal, with only Arsene Wenger (828) leading the club for more.
In August, he became only the 10th manager in the competition's history to oversee 250+ games in charge of a single side, after Wenger, Alex Ferguson with Manchester United (810), David Moyes at Everton (now 489), Pep Guardiola at Man City (380), Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool (334), Joe Kinnear with Wimbledon (278), Harry Redknapp at West Ham (269), Alan Curbishley at Charlton Athletic (266) and Sean Dyche at Burnley (258).
The only managers among that group with a better win rate than Arteta (60%) are Ferguson (65%), Guardiola (71%) and Klopp (63%).
Arsenal suffered their first Premier League defeat of the season prior to the international break, going down 3-0 to high-flying Brighton, but they will look to get back on track at home to Leeds United – who are still unbeaten – on Saturday.
