Real Sociedad's young defender Jon Martín stated on Radio MARCA's "Marcador" program that his goal helped the team defeat Deportivo La Coruña, securing a very important three points.

Jon Martín expressed on Radio MARCA that he was delighted to help the team win with his first goal of the season. "My job is clear: to defend and try my best to help the team protect the backline. However, if I can score a few more goals, that's even better. I like set pieces; I think they're a good opportunity to score, and everyone needs to stay active. We've been improving in this area, and this play was well-executed. Between Carlos's cross and Barrenetxea's distraction, I headed the ball in."

Naturally, the defender was also asked about the chaotic second half. Real Sociedad had a 3-0 lead, but almost squandered the advantage. "I think we controlled the game and built a 3-0 lead, which should have been enough to finish the match. But then they scored their first goal. I think the second goal, including the penalty and red card, took us out of the game. There was a lot of time left, and it was tough in that situation. After the red card, we were under more pressure, but even so, we defended well and got the three points."

Matarazzo seems to have convinced the players that these back-and-forth, action-packed games are good, calling them "psychiatric hospital matches" externally. "I think we proved we are very brave, both offensively and defensively. Of course, we still have a lot to improve, in attack and defense, but as long as we score more goals than we concede, that's enough..."

The Real Sociedad player wearing the number 6 jersey witnessed Pablo Marín's penalty and red card decision up close and didn't have many objections to the referee's call. "It was a corner kick. After the ball was cleared, it bounced back, and I saw him grappling with his opponent. Pablo also said they were both pulling. The referee decided it was a penalty and a red card. I think it was a very strict call because both players were contesting the ball. Regardless of the call, the team's job is to keep going forward, and I think that's what we did."
