According to Tuttosport, Juventus tried to sell Zhegrova last summer, but he rejected the offers and chose to stay. Now he has become one of Spalletti's top options, but still needs to be utilized appropriately.

In the gloomy match against Cagliari, Zhegrova was Juventus's only hope. As long as he was on the pitch, Spalletti's team could regain control of the game and deserved to score more goals.

The coach deployed this special weapon when needing to turn the tide, but couldn't use him in Europa League. Last summer the club tried to move him on, and the decision to exclude him from the Europa League squad now looks like a mistake. They have little excuse for it.

The Choice

Zhegrova struggled with poor physical condition last season. In the first half of last year, coach Tudor barely used him, and from late November coach Spalletti brought him in, often making him feel like an important player, but had to strictly manage his playing time, so there weren't many moments when the team could truly rely on him.

Last summer, partly due to good offers and partly for financial reasons, the club considered not keeping him. However, the player didn't accept the offers presented to him and was unwilling to accept proposals from Saudi Arabia or other minor leagues. Instead, despite not being included in the Europa League squad, he chose to serve the team and coach to the best of his ability, especially in Serie A.

Spalletti's Subtle Magic

Based on the Cagliari match, that choice was correct. In previous appearances, he also demonstrated his technical ability and vision. According to the role Spalletti gave him last season, the coach called him "Spalletti's subtle magic" because of his delicate touch. Zhegrova is useful because he moves effectively in tight spaces and adds unpredictability to the attack.

Due to his unstable physical condition and the need to carefully manage his playing time, he couldn't truly compete equally with Conceição in the same position. Conversely, the Portuguese player was therefore in an ideal position, with a reliable rotation option behind him, but had to show the same level of performance. The only regret is his exclusion from Europa League, where Zhegrova could have brought his quality and experience.
