Lloris responded to Ferdinand's point: some critics believe Pogba "didn't take football seriously enough" during his time at Old Trafford.

Ferdinand connected with former Tottenham and France goalkeeper Lloris, who currently plays for MLS team LAFC, on a podcast episode.

Lloris joined Tottenham Hotspur from Ligue 1 club Lyon in 2012, and faced Manchester United multiple times before leaving the North London club in 2024.

In addition, the 39-year-old French international has also crossed paths with several Red Devils players at the national team level, including former Manchester United star Pogba.

Ferdinand mentioned to World Cup winner Lloris that Pogba's reputation with the French team was completely different from his reputation at Manchester United.

He said on the "Ferdinand's Exclusive Interview" program: "After talking to you and others who worked with him in the French team, you can feel that the French Football Federation and his teammates are more tolerant of his personality – even if he is sometimes a bit flamboyant, even if he is just being himself, and he is a very charming person."

"But at a club like Manchester United, people's perception of him is different; they might think, 'Oh, he doesn't take football seriously enough, he's always smiling.'"

"But I know Paul is serious about football, it's just that his way of expressing it is different from others."

Pogba had many highlight moments during his second Manchester United spell, but his inconsistent form often made the former French international a target for criticism.

In response to Ferdinand's comments about Pogba, Lloris replied: "No, he is a very professional and good player, he is absolutely meticulous in his work, and he knows his importance."

"I know he has encountered some problems, such as injuries and family disputes off the field. But after being away from the field for a long time, it is difficult for the body to recover to a state where it can adapt to playing three games a week."

"So I sincerely hope he can get back on track, and I look forward to seeing him perform wonderfully in Ligue 1 Monaco."

Pogba won the Europa League and League Cup with Manchester United during Mourinho's tenure, and then left Old Trafford to return to Juventus as a free agent.

Lloris explained to Manchester United legend Ferdinand that former Manchester United and Juventus ace Pogba is a typical example of the "generational difference" he encountered in his career.

"I've played professional football for 23 years, and I have to adapt to different generations of players," he said, "and also adapt to the new environment where social media is deeply integrated into life."

"Some players have dedicated teams around them to build and promote their personal image and brand. I can understand that, and I don't want to be an old-fashioned player who is stubborn and conservative."

"But some players of Paul's generation realized this early on. At first, it wasn't well-accepted, but now it's an industry norm."

Pogba's second spell at Juventus was plagued by injuries, and after receiving a ban, he currently plays for Ligue 1 team Monaco.
