This week, Leganés General Manager Martín Ortega spoke with Fran González on "The Ortega Program" about their previous discovery of Yvan Diomande and his thoughts on the player's rumored transfer to Real Madrid.

Leganés General Manager Martín Ortega revealed the club's process of discovering Yvan Diomande: they had been tracking him since he was 15, always having great faith in him. Ortega stated, "We knew then that he possessed extraordinary qualities."

Before Diomande officially joined, Leganés had scouted him in Ivory Coast for two years. After Diomande recovered from injury, Leganés arranged a friendly match between the first team and youth players to assess his level.

Ortega recalled, "He was the best player in that game, scoring a brilliant goal. Borja Jiménez immediately said he didn't need to go back to the reserves."

Martín Ortega also revealed that after Diomande's first few months in La Liga, offers started coming in. The club tried to renew his contract, raising his release clause from €20 million to €30 million, but didn't manage to complete the operation in time.

Diomande eventually transferred to RB Leipzig. Ortega declined to disclose the specific transfer fee, citing confidentiality, but stated that the deal put Leganés in a favorable position for future transfer percentages, saying, "We reached a more advantageous agreement, especially from the perspective of the club's future development."

In addition to his technical skills, Ortega particularly highlighted Yvan Diomande's personality, stating, "He made his professional football debut at the Bernabéu at 18, showing no stage fright at all. He has immense self-confidence deep down."

Regarding Diomande's playing style, Ortega said, "Leaving aside the difference in strength, his dribbling ability can be compared to Yamal, and his two-footedness is similar to Dembélé. I firmly believe he has all the conditions to succeed at Real Madrid."
