Chelsea star Colwill has been granted planning permission to expand his home gym at his £4.2 million Surrey mansion following an injury-plagued season, according to The Sun.

The 23-year-old Chelsea defender played just 5 matches for the club last season and missed England's World Cup squad after suffering a serious ACL injury during pre-season.

He plans to build a private gym complete with a sauna and lounge area within his six-bedroom mansion located near Chelsea's Cobham training ground.

He also intends to add a cinema, games room, leisure room, TV room, and study to the property, which already features a swimming pool and 6 bathrooms, with a comprehensive renovation style inspired by "Grand Designs".

The home also includes a master bedroom with walk-in wardrobe, double garage with living space, outdoor kitchen, and of course, a couple of small goals for casual football training.

Current and former neighbors in this exclusive private residential community include former Chelsea captain Azpilicueta, TV personality Ant McPartlin, and former tennis player and commentator Andrew Castle.

Colwill is believed to have purchased the property from former Chelsea defender Bertrand, who featured in the 2012 Champions League final and helped the team defeat Bayern Munich on penalties.

Bertrand had previously been granted permission to expand his home gym years earlier but did not complete the work within the three-year timeframe.

Colwill resubmitted revised plans for a "modest" single-storey extension, and with no objections from neighbors, it was approved by the local council once again.

The council stated: "The proposal will have no adverse impact on the character and appearance of the area or the visual amenities of the street scene."

The council also noted: "The proposed works will have no adverse impact on the living conditions of neighboring residential properties through overlooking, loss of light, or overbearing effects."

Colwill joined Chelsea at U9 level and has made 80 senior appearances for the club since breaking through in the 2023/24 season.

Late last season, he finally returned to action after an extended absence due to his ACL injury.

He made his England debut in 2023 and has since earned 5 caps for the Three Lions.
