West Ham United Women have officially announced that Japanese international Saki Kumagai has joined the club on a one-year contract.

Official Announcement

West Ham United is delighted to announce that Women's World Cup winner Saki Kumagai has joined the team from fellow Barclays Women's Super League club London City Lionesses.

The 35-year-old has signed a one-year contract with the club, becoming manager Rita Guarino's tenth new signing in the summer transfer window.

Japanese international Saki Kumagai brings a wealth of major tournament experience and a winning mentality to the Hammers. Throughout her illustrious career, she has won numerous accolades, including five UEFA Women's Champions League titles and nine top-flight league titles across France, Germany, and Italy.

Kumagai is capable of playing as both a defender and a midfielder, and her individual honours are equally impressive: she was named Asian Women's Player of the Year in 2019 and won the Women's Golden Foot award in 2024.

Last season, she played for London City Lionesses, experiencing the Women's Super League for the first time. The new number 8 player is eager to begin her new chapter at West Ham United.
